September 18th

Reece and I have been hanging out allot lately. We are the last of the Interpreters in our hall at Sheldon Jackson. It has been feeling eerie in the halls lately as many creepy events have been taking place. Reece had a girl from another hall knock on his door asking is she could use his phone to call 911 because her boyfriend had just beaten her. One night after I had showered and crawled into bed to watch part of a movie on my laptop I heard the sound of my binds clang together. The sound frightened me and I froze thinking about what just happened. I believe someone had heard my movie and peered in through the blinds to look at me. They let go to fast and the metal blinds clang shut. I have heard people run by my window plenty of times but never felt threatened by them until this point. Other than that you have the usually drunks and children running loose in the halls upstairs. I have some fond memories that took place in and around Sheldon Jackson but will not miss staying here.

Reece has plans to head home on a fight September 29th after our last day of work. I have booked tickets for a flight to Seattle the following day September 30th and there was no way I was going to be spending my last night in Sitka alone in the dorms. I would be spending my night at Ronda's enjoying good food, movies and her company.

I'm happy that I realized weeks before leaving Sitka that I felt very fulfilled with my visit. Months previous all I wanted to do was explore everything the island had to offer, seeing new things and constantly planning the next great adventure. Now since I had that feeling of fulfillment I could pause a bit and simply enjoy every last day being here, hang out with friends and reflecting on all that has happened. Not reflecting in a sad melancholy sort of way but in a joyful appreciative outlook to help preparing myself for what is to come next.

Tonight after work Ronda swung by the dorms to pick up Reece and I. We were heading to Mosquito Cove to walk Bandit and Ronda's friend's Black Lab named Zena. We saw the brown bear mom and her two cubs taking a stroll on the beach so we decided to walk the dogs in the opposite direction. I was having fun listening to Ronda and Reeces's conversations while snapping photo's along the way. At one point Zena became unruly and jumped off the board walk almost taking Reece with her. It was a great evening to be with friends.
