Roger had a bit of an accident at work a few days earlier and cut his hand. So I filled his position and worked husbandry by myself. What a great day, and best of all there was no Zoie breathing down my back watching my every move. I prefer working solo, not having to check in with the others about what needs to be done and so on. Really lets you set your own pace and get the job done.
When I was cleaning Sunset and Katzeks mews, a bear ran directly in back of Oliver's habitat. I didn't know it was there until I stepped out of their enclosure and heard word from Steve. That young bear is becoming pretty brave around people, good way to get himself killed.
It was also Meg's last day at work before she left for her first year in college. She is attending Humboldt University in California to study Music Eduction. I wonder how she's going to like the switch from small town Alaska to largely populated California? Good luck Meg.
But the biggest news of the day is that my Pa arrived tonight on the 11:00 express! He was more awake than I had expected him to be. He had worked that day, left from Mosinee to fly to Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Anchorage, Anchorage to Juneau and finally Juneau to Sitka! I was very surprised when I revived news from my Dad that he coming to visit. Michelle and all my brothers pitched in to send him to Sitka for his father's day gift. Can't get a get a better gift than that if you ask me! Our short night included a beer run in a beat-up old S10 truck (thank you Jenna), snacking on my homemade jam and catching up on current family events.
